Previous story

More than 130 animals, including dogs, rabbits, chickens, and peacocks, have been turned over to the Claiborne County Animal Shelter after they were seized by authorities this weekend.

During a traffic stop, authorities discovered the animals crammed into the back of a horse trailer.  They had no food or water.  One chicken died after the seizure.

The man and woman who were transporting the animals,  Charlie L. Gregory and Taniciah Little face 134 acts of animal cruelty charges.  They surrendered the animals on Monday to the shelter.

Shelter officials say the puppies will be put up for adoption soon.  The board will meet later this week to determine what to do with the rest of the animals.
