A man wanted for a murder in Texas has been arrested in Blount County.
According to Sheriff James Lee Berrong, Joshua David Latham, 26, was arrested last week in connection with the disappearance and murder of 41-year-old Tami Diane Higginbotham, of Vinton, Texas.
Last Thursday, Texas authorities alerted the Blount County Sheriff's Office that Latham had family in Maryville, and may be on his way there. By Thursday night, deputies tracked Latham to a home on Magill Avenue and arrested him.
The next day, he was questioned by a Texas Ranger and an Orange, Texas Police investigators questioned Latham about the woman. Her body was found the next day.
Higginbotham had been missing since February 8, when she told her family she was meeting Latham about a cell phone exchange.
A woman who traveled with Latham to Maryville was interviewed Friday and released.
Latham is awaiting extradition to Texas, which could take several days.
