A woman who made a beautiful impression on Pellissippi Parkway for decades could be remembered there permanently.
Maria Compere and her husband planted flowers along the highway for nearly three decades, more than 2 million daffodils in all. She was known for various efforts to make the city look nicer.
Compere passed away last month at age 97.
Tuesday, City Council honored her and agreed to ask TDOT to consider renaming a portion of the parkway in her memory.
