Mother, daughter die in collision with tow truck

A mother and daughter died during a crash Wednesday afternoon in McMinn County. It happened in Etowah along Highway 411.

THP says 27-year-old Linda Bloom failed to yield at a stop sign, then hit a wrecker truck that was trying to turn. The car went down an embankment, and both Bloom and her 6-year-old daughter, Cayla, died.

Three others in the car, including two more children, were hurt. The driver of the wrecker is fine.

No charges are expected to be filed.

Two people are dead after a crash involving a car and a tow truck in McMinn County.

According to THP, the crash happened around 3:30 pm on US Hwy 411 near County Road 850, between Etowah and the Polk County line. 

Investigators believe the car failed to yield to the tow truck as it was turning left onto 411.  The car then went down an embankment.

The two fatalities were in the passenger car, and included the driver and a child.  Three others in the car were injured, including the child's father and two other kids under 10 years old.  They were taken to UT Medical Center by Lifestar helicopter.  Their names and current conditions have not been released.

Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane of 411 are still closed as the investigation continues.
