Tourism is setting records in Pigeon Forge.

Mayor David Wear announced the city set a record for revenue in 2012.

The city took in more than $905 million last year. That's a gain of $75 million. The city posted double digit growth in its two largest business sectors: amusements and lodging.

Mayor Wear says the community's commitment to investing in itself is paying off.

"There's three prongs to this. There's the residents, the businesses and the government, and they all work together in cooperation and have for years. We've been reporting this kind of growth for a number of years, but it seems to have hit a peak this year as the best year ever in the history of Pigeon Forge," said Mayor Wear.

He says he is looking forward to another solid year in 2013.

The city's new LeConte Center is set to open this fall, which will provide another large venue for shows, events and assemblies.
