Some Knoxville parents are reviving the local chapter of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) with a student art show.
The group held its first meeting Friday evening at Cocoa Moon on Market Square in Downtown Knoxville.
"Our goal is to get in to the schools but as parents learn about this with their child, it's an unknown world and so they want a place to go," says Tackett. "They can have support."
The event showcased and auctioned student art to celebrate the group's renewal. Money from the sale will benefit the city's upcoming Diversity Prom.
Tackett says parents who might not be ready to discuss family matters at a public meeting can also meet one-on-one with PFLAG members by getting in touch via Facebook.
