MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Memphis attorney has been appointed as general counsel of the Republican National Committee subject to approval at a meeting in April.
The Memphis Daily News reports that John Ryder will advise RNC Chairman Ryan Reince Priebus and oversee legal staff. As part of his responsibilities, he will also help the RNC review presidential primaries and campaign finance laws.
The newspaper reports Ryder is highly qualified for the volunteer position, having been involved with Republican politics for almost 40 years.
Ryder received his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law and has worked at several law firms in Memphis.
He is currently employed at Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh PLLC where his focus is bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
