A Kentucky preacher had to leave his snakes behind in Tennessee.
According to court documents, Jamie Coots pleaded guilty to illegally having poisonous snakes. They were confiscated during a traffic stop in Knox County on January. 31.
Coots was charged with illegally possessing and transporting wildlife, though those charges were dropped. Coots will be on unsupervised probation for a year.
Coots is the pastor at Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name Church in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and says he uses the snakes in worship services.
He says he legally bought the snakes, three rattlesnakes and two copperheads, in Alabama, and has a license to have them in Kentucky.
