A Harrogate man is now charged with stealing items from a garage that was set on fire Monday.
According to Detective Bradley Duncan with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department, John David Collins, 23, was arrested Monday in Tazewell after wrecking his vehicle.
Tazewell Police charged him with DUI.
While they were doing a routine inventory of Collins' vehicle, officers found a number of saws, drills and other tools. Those items were linked to two burglaries, one in Bell County, Kentucky, and one at Hunley Repair in north Harrogate. The company repairs and services tanker trucks in a rented facility on Londonderry Road.
That business caught fire early Monday morning. Detective Duncan believes the fire may have been set to cover up the thefts.
