Lyndsey Randall Davis asks, "What's the latest snowfall on record for East Tennessee?"

Lyndsey, that's a great question, and you'll have to pull out your history book for this one. The record was set in the 1800s.

The latest measurable snowfall in East Tennessee happened on May 20, 1894. It's wasn't a lot of snow-- only a minor dusting.

One interesting thing to note though-- we're coming up on the 20th anniversary of the Blizzard of '93, which was a late season storm that dumped 15.5 inches of snow in Knoxville.

Some areas had up to two feet of snow, and Mt. LeConte saw some of the most snow at five feet! Strong winds ripped the snow around and created drifts that were about three to four feet tall.
