A security guard who was shot at a Knoxville bar says he doesn't believe he was the intended victim.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning outside the Cueva bar on Sutherland Avenue.
Alberto Duenas, 28, of Knoxville, told investigators that he heard two Hispanic males arguing outside and went to investigate. As he reached the parking lot, he saw the argument and and that one of the men had a gun. When he heard the gun shots, Duenas said he turned to run, but was hit in the ankle.
He said the men never confronted him, and he does not believe he was shot intentionally.
The two suspects have not been located.
Knoxville police say one man was shot early Sunday morning at a bar in West Knoxville.
It happened at the Cueva Bar at 3101 Sutherland Ave. just before 2:00 a.m.
Police say first responders found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.
He was transported to UT Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, according to a report.
Knoxville Police say the investigation is ongoing.
