A Knoxville high school teen is standing up against the use of the "R" word.
Farragut High School Freshman, Natalie Campbell, is part of a national campaign called "Spread The Word To End The Word."
Her sister, Olivia, has Down Syndrome.
So, three years ago she brought the national campaign to Knoxville.
Now in high school, Monday morning, Natalie went back to Farragut Middle School to talk to more than 1,000 students on why it's hurtful to use such a negative term.
"I heard this word, the "R" word, retard, first when I was in third grade and so ever since then I have wanted to do something to help Olivia because I have always been very protective of Olivia. So, Olivia is the reason I do this campaign."
The national campaign runs through the end of the week.
