CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Chattanooga voters are choosing a new mayor and electing city council members.
Seeking the mayor's office in the non-partisan races are Andy Berke, Robert Chester Heathington Jr. and Guy Satterfield. Current Mayor Ron Littlefield is completing a second term, so the person elected will be the first new mayor in eight years.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, a total of 24 candidates are vying for the nine council seats. All but two of them are contested.
Election officials say the early vote was light, with just over 7,000 ballots cast.
Forecasters say there is a 100 percent certainty of rain showers throughout election day on Tuesday.
If runoffs are required, they would be held April 9. Officials will be sworn in April 19.
