A Maryville man faces meth charges after a authorities showed up at his home with a search warrant Thursday evening.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said Chester Lynn Burchfield, 42, of Old Cloverhill Road, Maryville, is charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Burchfield's home around 6:30 pm.  They found a non-operational meth lab, so Burchfield was not decontaminated and the home was not quarantined.  The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force disposed of the lab.

Burchfield is being held on a $100,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. March 13th.
He is also scheduled for a sentencing hearing March 11th on a prior meth charge.

So far this year, the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force has responded nine times to 14 separate meth labs.

The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the Alcoa Police Department, and the Maryville Police Department. All investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force are members of the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force.
