Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre hosted another community forum Thursday to talk to parents about the school budget.

He says his four top priorities are improving instruction, boosting student safety, using technology for more personalized learning, and increasing teacher salaries.

"One of the challenges that we face is that we do have some schools in our region that pay significantly more, and so some of our best and brightest teachers can go to Oak Ridge, Maryville or Alcoa, and make $6,000 or $8,000 more right away, and we want to make sure we're at least competitive with those other school systems," explained McIntyre.

Thursday's meeting is the latest in a series of forums.
