CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Chattanooga are looking for a suspect after a city police officer was shot and wounded.
Police Chief Bobby Dodd said Officer William McMillan received a wound that was not life-threatening while on duty Tuesday evening. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported police were searching for a known suspect who has a previous arrest for assaulting a police officer.
Dodd said it wasn't immediately known whether McMillan was trying to stop a crime or walked up on one when he was shot.
WRCB-TV reported there had been no arrests as of Wednesday morning. Dodd told the station the officer was in stable condition and in good spirits.
