More than one-hundred teachers came out to the Knox County Schools' Teacher Supply Depot at the former Cedar Bluff Intermediate School on Saturday morning.
This was the third and last opportunity teachers had to get free new and used classroom supplies for the school year.
Organizer Scott Bacon said the Teacher Supply Depot is a great way for the community to give back to teachers and students at the same time.
"Teachers are spending several hundred dollars out of their pockets every year to make sure kids in their classrooms have what they need," said Bacon. "This is a way for the community to rally around our teachers to make these free items available that they can take back and defray some of those expenses that they would personally take on."
More than 6,000 Knox County educators have received an estimated $2.3 million worth of supplies, which was made possible through local businesses and community members. Donations are accepted year-round.
