Normally state troopers crack down on interstate speeders, but a new bill now cracks down on local police who set up interstate speed traps.

The house unanimously passed the bill last night.

Lawmakers were concerned small towns along the interstate were using the roadways as an easy way to make money off tickets.

The new bill allows the safety commissioner to revoke a small city's patrol rights if they're only using it as a revenue stream.

The bill only applies to cities with a population of 10,000 or less.
