Construction will soon start on a multi-million dollar expansion project that will bring an additional 30 jobs to Oak Ridge.
Protomet Corporation broke ground on its $6.25 million dollar facility Friday.
The company makes parts for the automobile, boating and homeland security industries.
Protoment hopes to begin construction at the end of the month.
Company officials say they are proud to expand in East Tennessee.
"We are excited to be able to invest in this community and this community has been very supportive. It's a win-win because obviously we are providing jobs for the community. Lots of companies are still struggling and we are excited to be on the precedent of a pretty big expansion," said Jeff Bohanan, Protomet President.
The company will receive a five year tax-break on the expansion.
It should be finished by the end of the year.
Up to three dozen new jobs are coming to Oak Ridge.
