Katelyn Norman, the Campbell County teenager battling bone cancer whose story touched the nation, has died.
Norman passed away at 8:19 a.m. Friday, a spokeswoman for East Tennessee Children's Hospital said.
Norman, who fought bone cancer for the past two years, was 14.
She had made it her goal to complete a "bucket list" when her diagnosis became terminal.
One of those items was to go to her prom. On Tuesday night, more than 1,000 people helped make that wish come true, even though Norman had to be hospitalized.
The hospital has received more than 1,200 e-cards for Norman in recent days and more continue to arrive. The cards will be saved for Norman's family.
Update: The family of Katelyn Norman is warning people to avoid donating money to scammers who are fraudulently claiming to solicit donations on the family's behalf.
