Knoxville Police are investigating a second shooting that happened near Downtown Knoxville Saturday.

Officers were on patrol around 9:00 Saturday night when they heard up to 20 gun shots near Austin Homes Apartments on East Hill Avenue. They found a suspect driving a dark car with a New Jersey license plate nearby. Officers tried to stop him, but the suspect sped off. KPD decided not to chase the driver.

Additional officers investigated the original scene where they heard the shots fired. They found two injured male victims. One had a gunshot wound in his back, the other on his head. Police say both were responsive and  talking on the scene.

According to witnesses, the shooting stemmed from an argument on Bell Street near the Austin Homes. Investigators say the suspect in the dark car drove down Bell Street and fired several shots from the car window.

Officers are still investigating the incident and a shooting that happened a couple blocks away just hours before the shooting on Bell Street.
