KPD: East Knoxville double shooting was not random

Knoxville police believe a double shooting in East Knoxville on Sunday night was not random.

Officers responded to the KenJo Market on the Rutledge Pike shortly after 9:00 p.m. Police said Marcus Stanford Sr. and his son, Marcus Standford Jr., were shot inside their car and were hit several times. Emergency crews transported both men to UT Medical Center for treatment.

The victims said they were at an intersection when they heard gunfire. Authorities believe it started from an earlier confrontation.

(March 31, 2013) Police said two men are recovering after they said someone shot them inside their vehicle on Sunday night in East Knoxville.

Officers responded to the KenJo Market on the Rutledge Pike shortly after 9:00 p.m. At the scene, officers found a father and his 19-year-old son suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims said they were at an intersection when they heard gunfire. One of the victims had multiple wounds in his leg and hips and the other was shot in his side. Authorities said the vehicle also had several bullet holes in the driver's side.
