This year's Dogwood Arts Festival will see some changes to the normal lineup.
"What we're trying to do is make an economic impact and make it an arts destination. So we're always trying to make those numbers and see how we're impacting the city," said festival marketing manager Erin Slocum.
This year, you will not see the Dogwood Parade, a line of floats along Gay Street, or the Dogwood Run, which started near Market Square. Slocum said both had logistical issues with closing down streets.
Instead, she said to expect more with the current events for the 2013 schedule.
"With Rhythm and Blooms, we're really looking to expand the music," Slocum added. "So, of course, it's always been American roots, but we want to hit a bunch of demographics with that."
Other events include expansion for the Dogwood Trails, a series of walks for visitors, and more to offer for the Market Square "Fair Weekend."
"We're really catching on what Dogwood Arts has to offer," Slocum said.
