A Madisonville soldier arrived home Monday morning after serving overseas.
Private First Class Phillip Kirkland is home for a week after being stationed in the Middle East for nine months.
He arrived in style; the Patriot Guard Riders escorted Kirkland to lunch where he was reuniting with his family. He says he plans to use his time on leave to see and visit with everybody he can.
At the end of the week, Kirkland will return to Fort Benning in Georgia. He has one year left in the Army, but Kirkland says he'll try to do the civilian equivalent of his job when he gets out.
In the meantime, he says it feels pretty good to be home with friends and family.
