A McMinn County man who was convicted in the death of his little girl has been shot.
Officials told WRCB in Chattanooga that Mitchell Delashmitt was shot in the upper torso after a fight Tuesday at a home in Meigs County.
Delashmitt was flown to Erlanger Medical Center where he's listed in critical condition.
The TBI is assisting in the investigation.
Delashmitt was convicted of reckless homicide in the 2003 death of his 14-month-old daughter, Angel. He was originally charged with felony murder, child abuse, and rape, but questions about the autopsy and his mental capacity allowed a plea deal on the lesser charges. In May 2010, he was sentenced to time served plus five years probation.
In May 2012, Delashmitt was sent back to prison for violating his parole, but records from the Tennessee Department of Corrections show he was released in August 2012.
