Several portrait studios at department stores in East Tennessee have shut down after the company that ran them announced it is closing.

CPI Corporation operates more than 2,000 portrait studios in stores like Walmart and Sears.

An employee at the Walmart store near Knoxville Center says their studio shut down, and Sears tells us the studios in all their stores shut down too.

It's unclear how many jobs that affects in our region, but in Missouri, employees say they had no warning.

"They weren't going to tell us. We were going to come in to work at 10 o'clock this morning when our studios all open and not be able to clock in," said Jennifer McDowell.

The CPI Corporation website suggests if customers have questions about their photos to contact customer service at their local store.
