Four people are charged after an incident that led to the discovery of a dead man.

According to Knoxville Police, an officer responded to a disturbance call on Tuesday around 8:15 pm near the 800 block of Richards Street near downtown Knoxville.

The officer encountered Charles Matthew Rose, 49, homeless, who investigators say was extremely intoxicated and tried to force Officer Carl Kennedy to the ground.  After a brief struggle, Rose was taken into custody.

Officers then discovered a homeless camp in the woods with four people sleeping inside along with a dead man covered in blankets.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine how the man died.  KPD says he was homeless but will not release his name until his family has been located and notified of his death.

Rose is charged with Resisting Stop, Halt, Frisk, Arrest and Public Intoxication.  He's being held on a $1,250 bond.

Three others are charged with assault and theft, and being held on a $7,500 bond: Hope Carol Warvi, 22, homeless from Strawberry Plains; Joshua Cool, 27, homeless from Pennsylvania; and Brandon Roberts, 28, homeless from Virginia.
