A familiar face joined Knox County Republicans Friday night for their annual Lincoln Day dinner. Former presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul was the keynote speaker.
The annual dinner is a fundraiser for the GOP and is hosted by the Knox County Republican Party.
Paul spoke about the future of the party and said the GOP is starting to attract young people who are concerned with the economy and want small government.
"In our efforts these last five years, there's been a lot of young people who at one time wouldn't be seen in the Republican Party and now are interested because they're hopeful that maybe we can present these views," said Paul.
Dr. Paul said he was invited to speak by his good friend Congressman Duncan.
This was Paul's first trip to Knoxville.
