The Diocese of Knoxville plans to create a mobile medical clinic.
The St. Mary's Legacy Clinic will offer basic health care for those who can't afford it or don't have easy access.
The project is in the initial stages right now. They're finishing up the purchasing agreement, then construction on the clinic will start.
The clinic's executive director say talks of the mobile clinic started after the sale of St. Mary's, as a way to carry on its legacy of service.
"As a result of the sale, we were gifted with the money to start St. Mary's Legacy Foundation, and that provided the resources for us to do this. So, it was really God blessing us with a number of factors that came together to allow us to start this venture," said Sister Mariana Koonce.
The clinic should be up and running by this October.
They're still working out logistics, like eligibility requirements and a schedule for the clinic.
Now, the foundation is looking for community partners.
