Grandmother's Banana Nut Bread

1 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
1 cup ripe bananas, mashed


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease bottom of a loaf pan. Sift together flour soda and salt. Cream together butter, sugar and eggs until blended. Add bananas and pecans. Add dry ingredients to banana mixture. Spread batter in pan. Bake until center tests clean about 45-50 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes, remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.
