Blackberry French Toast

Blackberry Compote (Topping)
1 pint fresh blackberries, washed
4 T. blackberry jam
2-1/2 to 3 T. lemon juice (to taste)
1/4 c. water

2 C. self rising flour
1/2 pt. blackberries, whole
1/2 c. sour cream
3 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
4 oz. cream cheese
1 cup (approximately) whole milk


To make the compote, place all ingredients n small sauce pan. Simmer over low heat until mixture coats the back of a spoon, about 3-4 minutes.

To make the bread, mix all ingredients well, fold in blackberries. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Let cool and cut into squares.
