TVA is spilling water through the top spill way gates at Norris Dam.
Norris Dam will turn into a man-made waterfall Thursday afternoon.
TVA says they will open the spillways at the dam around 2:00 pm, leaving water to pour over the massive concrete dam. It's a rare site that usually draws a lot of curious visitors.
Currently, Norris Lake is about five feet above where it should be right now, and two feet above the summer pool levels that TVA maintains for recreation.
In addition, TVA officials say some of the hydroelectric equipment is out for maintenance work.
The last time TVA spilled water at Norris Dam was in 2011. We don't know yet how long TVA will be spilling at Norris.
TVA is also spilling at Fort Loudoun.
