The dare came across email.. Land Rover Knoxville asking if we wanted to go rock walking.
I'm not sure about you, but all I have ever heard of is four wheelin'. So when Tom the guide showed up in a bright shiny car we got a little nervous. How in the world are we supposed to go off road in such a nice car? We also didn't think that Photographer JJ's car was ready to go up the mountain.
So with JJ in the back, Tom in the co-pilot seat and me driving off we went... to the top of Windrock Park and make it snappy.
Then as JJ came back down onto his seat Tom thought maybe I should slow it down a little... oops my bad.
The car is actually smarter than the driver in this situation. It uses tire sensors to regulate power to the different parts.. or that is what I think I am sure Bob explained it a lot better.
The technology is pretty amazing and with Bob and the car I'm not even sure I need to steer. It was like I was David Hasselhoff with KIT. JJ's Siri actually was trying to talk to the car at one point. Very peculiar experience.
As we went up there were a couple of places where I was not sure if I should go to the left or the right.. just don't scratch the car was the only thing going through my mind.
We made it over some huge rocks in the road. Windrock is open to everyone, but you need a land use permit. So make sure you head to their website.
Big thanks to the folks at Land Rover Knoxville for sending poor Bob out to drive with us, we hope he made it safely back to you.
Plus don't forget the rules of the off road and get out there and have some fun!
