Tennessee point guard Trae Golden will not be a Vol for his senior season.

UT announced Tuesday that Golden would transfer to another school after the spring semester.

Tennessee did not state a reason for his departure. According to Volquest.com, Golden was facing some academic issues.

"We want nothing but the best for Trae," UT head coach Cuonzo Martin said. "Everyone associated with our program wants to see him be successful, and we wish him well."

In three years as a Vol, Golden played in 96 games and started 58 of them.  He averaged 9.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists during his career on Rocky Top.

Golden, from Powder Springs, Georgia, led the Vols with a career-best scoring average of 13.6 points per game as a sophomore in 2011-12. He averaged 12.1 points this past season.

"I had a great three years here at Tennessee, but I plan to play my senior year somewhere else this fall," Golden said. "I really appreciate the staff and all the great support from Vol fans. I'm definitely going to miss my teammates. I want them to have nothing but success in the future."
