A slew of recent construction projects is bringing a lot of new business to Knox County.
It's long been a destination for growth and developers, and commercial real estate expert Justin Cazana says he expects that trend to continue.
"I think obviously West Knoxville is the direction more development is going," says Cazana. "You have more ease of access for your corporate groups."
Just off the Walker Springs exit a new gym is getting in to shape.
The 120,000 sq ft. National Fitness Center facility could open as early as late fall.
"This one this is going to be a landmark," said NFC President Lee Sloan.
And landmarks are meant to be seen-- that's why he's confident in their location.
Sloan says they were attracted by the interstate traffic, but also key residential sections.
Just around the corner off of Bridgewater Rd there's another big construction project.
A new call center is being build on Comsack Rd. It's visible to drivers traveling along I-40 W, just before the Cedar Bluff Exit.
The area also boasts two new hotels. An Embassy Suites opened up Friday. It sits just east of Turkey Creek. There's also a Courtyard Marriott under construction in Bearden, behind Five Guys Burgers and Fries off Papermill Dr.
Visitors to the West Town Mall can get a peek at the progress on a highly anticipated new restaurant- The Cheesecake Factory.
Developers announced in January they expect to open by June.
As for the National Fitness Center, it's going to take more time before it's finished.
The plans include at least four pools, a cardio theater, and a ladies-only area.
They are currently enrolling charter members.
"When we decided to come to West Knoxville we knew this would be the right spot," said Sloan.
