The Knox County Sheriff's Office said a woman playing with her dogs in her front yard was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull.

It happened at 4327 Northgate Drive off Andersonville Pike in Powell at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday. The sheriff's office said Angela Garrett, 42, had dog bite wounds to her legs and hands. Rural/Metro transported her to North Knoxville Medical Center for treatment.

Animal control removed the pit bull accused in the attack and another pit bull from a home at 4405 Northgate Drive. The dogs are at Young-Williams Animal Center for evaluation. The sheriff's office identified the dogs' owner as J.J. Powers.

The sheriff's office plans to release more information as animal control officers continue their investigation.
