Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed one person died in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Maryville early Saturday morning.

Officers identified the victim as 50-year-old James T. Pack III.

Around 2:30 a.m., crews responded to East Lamar Alexander Highway, between Helton Road and Tucklaleechee Pike for an SUV on fire.

Two pictures emailed to 10News from a viewer show massive flames coming from the vehicle.

THP Sgt. Randy Huckeby said the 2010 Infiniti was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway and hit a median.  The vehicle then struck a bridge head-on, and burst into flames.

The burning vehicle then fell off the 60-to-70 foot bridge into a creek.

When EMS arrived on-scene, they confirmed the driver died.  The driver was the only person inside the vehicle.

THP said Pack was not wearing a seat belt.

THP said the accident remains under investigation.
