A Loudon County family enjoying a day at Dollywood came home to find their two-story house in flames Sunday afternoon.
Loudon County firefighters responded to the Lakeland Drive house fire shortly after 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
They say the fire started on the second floor. Firefighters contained the flames to the second floor, but by that time it had already badly damaged the house. Between the fire damage and water damage, crews say the house is a total loss.
Fortunately, nobody was home at the time. Officials say the family of three that lives there are veterinarians. Several animals were in the house when the fire broke out but made it out safely.
Firefighters are not sure what started the fire, but they don't believe it was suspicious.
The family says it plans to stay with relatives.
