(WBIR- Knoxville, Tenn.) US Senator Bob Corker says he's open to the idea of changing the ownership model for TVA, including cutting ties with the federal government.

The senator made those remarks to a Chattanooga newspaper after the Obama administration's budget floated the idea last month of selling TVA to ease the burden on the federal debt.

Tennessee's other Senator, Lamar Alexander, quickly called it "ill-conceived" and "reckless", but Senator Corker suggests TVA service to customers might improve if it was owned by several dozen distributors.

Our Inside Tennessee panel asked TVA's CEO about moving to a new ownership model.

"It's a concept you can understand. Now think about this: there are 155 of those local power companies. Like any group, they don't agree on everything all the time, and I think it would be hard to do with 150 disparate voices trying to run the same operation," said CEO Bill Johnson.

You can watch the full interview with TVA CEO Bill Johnson on Sunday morning on Inside Tennessee at a special time-- 10:30.
