It may be June, but all courts are busy at Thompson-Boling Arena. Cuonzo Martin's annual skills camp for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade has packed the place.
"It's going well," said Martin. "This is always a fun time of year to get the little guys to be apart of our program, have some fun, learn some skills, but more importantly just to get to know our guys. We have a lot of former players back and I think the guys enjoy that."
One former Vol is enjoying his time on the TBA floor. Steve Hamer is not only working the camp as a coach, he's getting some quality time working his son Malachi.
"For my wife I am going easy on him, but he's doing a great job," said Hamer.
Malachi said his dad isn't being too hard on him, as for what he's learning.
"Defense, closing out on people, and getting the right form shooting."
The elder Hamer said he's proud of his young son playing on the same floor he played on over 17 years ago.
"Just seeing your son out here playing on this floor. When I told him he had the opportunity to play for camp he was like, 'Really? Really? Wow!' So, it just made my heart swell up with pride."
