A Roane County bar, known to be a constant source of fights and drug dealing, will not reopen.
Tuesday evening, the Roane County Beer Board chose not to hear a motion to renew the beer permit of the Grill and Pub bar in Harriman.
The bar closed down after authorities found Harriman resident David Harvey dead outside of the building last winter. The Roane County Sheriff's Department said Harvey had died from injuries he received during a fight.
One of Harvey's friends put together a written petition to stop the business from reopening. Vickie Davis said it would have caused pain for Harvey's family.
"What if you had to tell your children, like i did? What if you had to watch Dave's parents disintegrate in front of your eyes? Tell me that it's a good thing to be open. It's not. And we're happy, more happy than I can tell you, and we will fight if they try to open it again," she said.
Davis said she will fight if another motion is made to reopen the bar again.
