Homeless man arrested for north Knoxville shopping center stabbing

(WBIR-Knoxville) Knoxville police charged a homeless man for a stabbing in north Knoxville on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said an argument broke out between several people in the Broadway Shopping Center parking lot shortly before 5:45 p.m. Chicko Jett, 54, is accused of stabbing John Estep, 46 in his mid-section and cutting his hand. First responders drove Estep to UT Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect following a short chase on foot.

Jett faces aggravated assault and attempted aggravated assault among other charges. He's being held on an $83,000 bond. Knoxville police said they were also two outstanding warrants on Jett for violation of probation and failure to appear.

(WBIR - Knoxville) An argument turned violent Sunday afternoon outside the Broadway Shopping Center. 

Knoxville Police said one person was stabbed around 5:45 p.m. following an argument between several people in the parking lot.

The victim was stabbed in the mid-section and cut on the hand. 

Officers chased the suspect on foot and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was later charged with aggravated assault. 

The victim was transported to UT hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
