The 2014 election season for is underway for the job of Knox County's top prosecutor.
Charme Knight hopes to replace long-time District Attorney General Randy Nichols next year.
Thursday afternoon she held a reception to welcome supporters and discuss her candidacy.
Knight has worked as a prosecutor in Knox County for more than 20 years. Since 2007, she has led a special unit that oversees the investigation of prosecution of child abuse cases.
Current Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols has previously announced he plans to retire after his current eight-year term ends next year.
The general election to find his replacement will take place in August 2014.
