(WBIR-Knoxville) Golfers hit the fairways to raise money for the Free Medical Clinic of America Wednesday morning, celebrating the clinic serving its one-thousandth new patient.
The 5th annual Dr. Kim Charity Golf Tournament in east Knox County at Three Ridges Golf Course raised money to keep the Free Medical Clinic going for another 11,000 patients.
Dr. Kim, who is a blood and cancer doctor, offers free services to people who would otherwise not be able to afford medical services. He said is clinics are a way he can repay America for giving him a fresh start after he came to the U.S. from North Korea as a child.
The clinic said it plans to organize a celebration dinner, which will be announced at a later date.
