KPD still looking for driver of SUV that struck 11-year-old boy

11-year-old Elijah Whitten is still recovering after being hit by an SUV Monday while riding his bike.  The driver of the SUV left the area after the accident.

Juvenile witnesses told KPD investigators that they were riding their bikes in the alley off of Gleason Place when Whitten entered the street without looking and was hit by the SUV.

Police are still looking for the three men inside the SUV.

According to UT Medical Center, Whitten is in stable condition Tuesday morning.

An 11-year-old was sent to the hospital Monday night after being involved in a hit-and-run while riding his bicycle, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Officers say the accident happened on Gleason Place near S. Castle Street around 9 p.m.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black SUV with three males inside.

The victim was transported to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
