1 dead, 9 injured in Hawkins Co. ambulance crash

(WBIR-Hawkins County) One person was killed and nine people were injured, including three children, after an ambulance crashed in Hawkins County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, an ambulance crashed into a car at the intersection of US Hwy 11 and Silver Lake Road.

The driver, Samantha Hathaway, 18, was killed.

THP said after the ambulance crashed in Hathaway's car, it veered to the left and hit two cars that were stopped at the intersection.

Amanda Carr, 22, of Mooresburg, Kala Murrell, 22, of Rogersville, Brenda Joyner, 39, of Chuckey, and Ashley Randall, 35, of Talbot were injured the crash.

Sarina Hurd, 34, of Church Hill was also injured, along with three children in her vehicle, ages 4, 8, and 11.

THP said the ambulance was running an emergency call at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation.
