(WBIR - Knoxville) An officer fired a shot at a suspect Monday evening after a chase, but did not hit him, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
KPD says officers approached 20-year-old Jerrell Davis and 21-year-old Calvin Rader shortly before 7 p.m. Monday near the Old City because Davis had outstanding warrants.
They say the two men fled on foot, and after a chase, Rader raised a handgun at an officer. The officer says they then fired a single shot at Rader, but didn't hit him. Rader then threw away his gun and was taken into custody without further incident.
Police say they recovered the handgun and a small amount of marijuana from Rader.
Rader has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, evading, and simple possession. Davis has been charged with evading and three outstanding warrants.
