The Tennessee lottery is once again recording record proceeds.
The 2013 fiscal year just ended, and the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation says they posted proceeds of $339.7 million. That's a five percent increase over last year's $323.4 million, which was also a record at that time.
The lottery says $16.2 million more will be used for education-related funding in Tennessee this year than last.
Since ticket sales began in January 2004, the lottery says more than $2.73 billion has been used to fund education programs such as scholarships, grants and after-school program.
The lottery says the higher ticket sales may be related to the introduction of 47 new instant tickets during the year, enhancement to Powerball, and the launch of Hot Lotto.
