KAZAN, Russia - Recent Tennessee graduate Kelsey Floyd swam the butterfly leg on the U.S. team's bronze medal 400-meter medley relay Tuesday at the World University Games.
The U.S. team of Cindy Tran, Laura Sogar, Floyd and Megan Romano turned in a time of 4 minutes, 2.71 seconds. Russia won in a time of 3:58.04, followed by Italy.
Floyd also reached at least the semifinals in all three of her individual events. She placed eighth overall in the 100 butterfly, her best result of the WUG. She made the semifinals of the 50 and 200 butterfly.
The Lady Vols have now won medals in the last two WUG. Jenny Connolly had the meet of her career at the event in 2011. She took gold in the 50 backstroke and got silver medals in the 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay.
Renato Prono, a rising senior hailing from Paraguay, competed in the 50 and 100 breaststroke events. He won his preliminary heat in the 100 breaststroke.
Kredich has served as head coach of the U.S. women's swim squad at the WUG.
