(WBIR - Northwest Knoxville) There was a Golden Bear sighting in Knoxville on Saturday in the form of Rule High School Alumni coming together at Victor Ashe Park to celebrate each other and their former school.

The second annual Bob Poston, Golden Bear memories and appreciation tribute was organized and sponsored by a handful of alumni who wanted to ensure the memory of the school lives on while the school's physical building remains vacant.

Rule High School closed back in 1991 and has remained vacant for more than 20 years.

The vacant school didn't bring alumni down at the celebration as a number of people wore shirts with the slogan "without a school, we still rule."

The slogan is a sentiment which runs deep with alumni, including Jeffery Minor.

"We love our school, we miss it, but we are going to carry it on. We aren't going to let it die," Minor, class of 1979, said.
